Quick start e-reading guide

Hol e-book bundles includes the book in three, unencrypted versions: EPUB, MOBI, and PDF. With these, you'll be able to read your book on any device.

Dedicated E-Reader:

Simply connect it to your computer and upload the appropriate e-book file to it. The Kindle supports the MOBI format. All other e-readers support EPUB. Many also support PDF, but because the text and layout is static, we don't recommend using it for anything other than desktop use.

Smartphone or Tablet:

You'll first need to download an e-reading application. There are numerous free options for every device, just make sure yours can accept content you upload (not just content you buy from built in stores). Here are a few apps we recommend, all of which accept either EPUB or MOBI e-books:

  • APPLE iOS -- iBooks, Stanza or Kobo
  • ANDROID PHONES & TABLETS -- Aldiko, FBReader, or Kobo
  • WINDOWS MOBILE or PALM OS -- MobiPocket Reader
  • BLACKBERRY -- MobiPocket Reader or Kobo

Desktop or Laptop Computer:

You can read the PDF version of your e-book with any common PDF reader. Or there are also many good ways to read the EPUB version, which has the advantage of being able to easily resize the text, change fonts, etc…

All Hol e-books are sold without encryption. So, you can try many devices and many reading apps, now or down the road. You're never locked in to just one.
